India-France relation is now geared towards the next quarter century, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Mr. Modi made a strong pitch for the overhauling of the international political-economic architecture and described India as a bridge between the West and Global South. Addressing the Indian diaspora, Mr. Modi said India and France are tackling many challenges of the 21st century.
“Therefore, at this crucial time, the importance of the strategic partnership between our countries has increased even more,” he said terming people-to-people connect as the “strongest foundation” of India-France partnership.
Addressing a packed auditorium, he said Tamil is the world’s oldest language and announced that a statue of Tamil poet- saint Thiruvalluvar would be installed in France.
“A statue of the great Thiruvalluvar in France is an honour for India,” the PM said, adding that what could be a matter of bigger pride than that the world’s oldest language is Indian. In this regard, he noted that Wimbledon called Roger Federer Thalaivaa (boss).
