In view of the desire expressed in certain quarters [in Bombay] that the All-India Conference of the moderate party ought to be postponed for about a week or so owing to the prevalence of the epidemic of fever in Bombay, a representative of the Associated Press interviewed Mr. N.M. Samarth, General Secretary of the Executive Committee, and was informed that the question of whether a postponement would be necessary would be considered on Tuesday next at a meeting of the Executive Committee. Mr. Samarth expected that the epidemic would considerably subside by the dates already fixed for the Conference and if a postponement was decided upon Friday 25th and Saturday 26th would probably be fixed for the Conference. Further this would obviate the objections expressed by some Christians in Bengal to attend the Conference on a Sunday. The present dates were fixed after consulting Christian members of the Executive Committee.
