Co-operation in India. Registrars’ Conference

The eighth Conference of the Registrars of Co-operative Societies opened this morning in the committee room of the Imperial Secretariat [in Simla, on Aug. 12] and was attended by about 20 officials and 7 non-officials. Sir Claude Hill in opening the Conference welcomed the delegates and said Mr. Mant would preside over the deliberations. He also referred to the report of the co-operative committee over which Sir Edward Maclagan had presided. He dwelt on the third item on the agenda which related to the proposed amendment of Land Acquisition Act of 1894 and asked the Conference to make suggestion as to the removal of technical difficulties in the operation of the Act.
