The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Serampore has disposed of a case in which a Bengali youth named Bibhuti Bhusan Mukerjee was prosecuted for robbing Messrs. Clark and McGuir of their belongings from a first-class compartment of an up passenger between Howrah and Bhadeswar station. These gentlemen were sleeping in a compartment. As the train arrived at Bhadeswar Mrs. McGuir roused her husband and Mr. Clark saying that a man had just gone out and she suspected him to be a thief. Lights were switched on and both Messrs. Clark and McGuir immediately went out of the compartment and noticed a man running towards the down platform. Meantime the train moved and Mr. Clark stopped it by pulling the chord. The accused was arrested and a waistcoat and coat were found in his possession. The coat contained cigarette cases, watch, chain and a money bag.
