Dhaksha Unmanned Systems bags order from Indian Army

Context

Fertiliser maker Coromandel International’s subsidiary Dhaksha Unmanned Systems, which manufactures drones, has bagged an order to supply 200 medium altitude logistics drones and accessories to the Indian Army.

In Past Contract

The firm also bagged a contract from Agri inputs cooperative IFFCO recently for supply of 400 Agri-spraying drones. These are planned to be delivered over the course of the next 12 months

Dhaksha’s orders in the current year, including those from the Army and IFFCO, had exceeded ₹165 crore, the company said.

The defence contract validates Dhaksha’s technology capability and its potential to capture opportunities in unmanned aerial systems space.

Medium altitude logistics drones

They are drones that can fly at altitudes of up to 12,000 feet. They are used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Delivering supplies to remote areas
  • Conducting surveillance
  • Providing communication links
  • Supporting search and rescue operations

One example of a medium altitude logistics drone is the Raphe MR-20. The MR-20 is a hexacopter drone that can carry a payload of up to 20 kilograms. It has a range of up to 20 kilometres and can stay in the air for up to 2 hours.
