Gita Gopinath is IMF Chief Economist

International Monetary Fund (IMF) appointed India-born Gita Gopinath as Economic Counsellor and Director of the IMF’s Research Department. Ms. Gopinath will succeed Maurice (Maury) Obstfeld, who announced he would retire at the end of 2018, an official statement said on Monday.
