Government to pay 20% interim relief to employees

VMC, GVMC employees to get salaries under ‘010’ account
The State Cabinet has cleared a proposal to pay an interim relief (IR) of 20% to the State government employees. The IR would be paid to the employees with effect from June 1, 2018. The Cabinet also cleared a proposal to pay the salaries of employees of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) under 010 head of account — through treasury. The employees have been demanding IR as the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) is yet to submit its report. In the run-up to elections in 2014, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had promised the municipal employees that their salaries would be paid under ‘010’. Barring the VMC and the GVMC, all other municipalities and corporations have already been brought under this system. In another major decision, the Cabinet has decided to issue health cards to the outsourcing employees.
