The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday accused the Janata Dal (S)-Congress coalition government in the State of “indirectly” supporting the bandh by declaring holiday for schools and colleges. Addressing a press conference here, BJP State general secretary N. Ravi Kumar questioned the need for declaring holiday for schools and putting off various examinations. Maintaining that the bandh had “failed to get people’s support”, the BJP described it as a “conspiracy by the Left parties to pit people against Prime Minister Narendra Modi” with the support of the Congress and Janata Dal (S). BJP State general secretary C.T. Ravi urged Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to withdraw the recent increase in State taxes on petrol and diesel instead of supporting the bandh.
