INS Savitri Arrives in Mozambique

Context:
Indian Naval Ship (INS) Savitri, an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) of the Indian Navy, arrived at Port Beira, Mozambique, as part of its ongoing deployment in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

Key Highlights:
• The ship received a ceremonial welcome from the Mozambique Navy, symbolising the strong maritime cooperation and historical ties between India and Mozambique.
• Personnel from both navies will participate in joint training and professional interactions aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation and interoperability for future missions.
• Training modules include:

  • Navigational and EEZ surveillance discussions
  • VBSS (Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure) drills
  • Damage control and firefighting exercises
    Community outreach activities:
  • Ship visits for local citizens to showcase the Indian Navy’s capabilities and maritime traditions.
  • A medical camp for the local community to foster friendship and goodwill.
    • The visit concludes with joint Yoga sessions and Futsal matches to promote camaraderie and team spirit.
    • The deployment reaffirms India’s role as a reliable and Preferred Security Partner in the Indian Ocean Region.
