Kent RO to invest Rs. 150 crore in a new plant at Noida

Firm’s total water purifier capacity to cross 10 lakh units
Kent RO Systems, a healthcare products firm, is planning to set up a second manufacturing plant at Noida at an investment of more than Rs. 150 crore. The facility will be ready in 4-5 years. “Our next expansion would happen 4-5 years later,” said Mahesh Gupta, chairman and managing director. “We have already purchased land in the same place,” he said, adding that the first plant at Noida is set for formal inauguration on September 24. Addressing the media at the south India launch of four new RO water purifiers, here on Monday, he said Kent RO Systems had established the Noida plant at an investment of Rs. 150 crore as the Roorkee, Uttarakhand plant had attained full capacity. With the Noida plant, the total capacity for water purifiers would cross 10 lakh units. The investment in the second plant at Noida would be in the range of Rs. 150-Rs. 200 crore. “We have already signed an MoU with the U.P. government to invest Rs. 200 crore,” Mr. Gupta added.
Mainstay business
Though Kent RO had grown the product portfolio by adding air purifiers, vegetable and fruit purifiers and water softeners besides a few home appliances, water purifiers remained its mainstay, contributing more than 85% of the revenue, he said.“Core business continues to be water [purifiers],” he said. It was expected to remain so though the company also anticipated sales contribution of other products to increase, he added. Kent is aiming to cross Rs. 950 crore revenue during the current fiscal.
