The Bombay High Court on Friday directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to examine before December 18 whether the movie Zero has content that hurts the religious sentiments of the Sikh community and submit its findings.A Division Bench of B.P. Dharmadhikari and S.V. Kotwal was hearing a plea filed by Amritpal Singh Khalsa. The petition said that actor Shah Rukh Khan is shown in the film’s poster wearing shorts, vest and a kirpan, and this was blasphemous .The petition stated, “The way in which the actor is wearing akirpan, which is a fundamental right of Sikhs and of paramount religious importance. But he has done so without following any rehat maryada. It has conveyed a message to the public at large that the kirpan is a piece of fun and frolic, and a showpiece and can be used in any way and manner.” The petition has sought the CBFC to revoke the film’s certification.
