Joint operation of police, Army, CRPF after militants killed three SPOs A day after three policemen were abducted and killed by militants, security forces on Saturday launched a massive cordon-and-search operation in Shopian and Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said. The operation was conducted in at least eight villages from early in the morning, a State police official said. Flushing out militants He said a joint team of the police, the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force launched the operation to flush out militants from the area. The operation was going on when last reports came in. Security forces fired tear gas shells to disperse groups of youth who threw stones at personnel carrying out the searches at Shermal in Shopian. Three special police officers were abducted and later killed by militants in Shopian district on Friday morning. National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah visited the police headquarters here on Saturday to offer his condolences on the killing of three police personnel. Dr. Abdullah, Srinagar MP, met senior officers, including Director-General of Police Dilbag Singh.
