Syllabus: Bilateral, regional and global groupings and agreements involving India and/or affecting  India’s interests.

Context

The UAE, which promised $2-billion investments in food parks in India at the four-nation I2U2 (India-Israel-UAE-USA) Summit held in July 2022, is yet to deliver on its commitment more than a year later as it continues to raise policy concerns.

I2U2:

I2U2 is a new strategic framework for economic cooperation between India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. The framework was announced in July 2022 by the leaders of the four countries.

The four countries have agreed to work together on a number of areas, including:

  • Water: The countries will work together to develop water desalination and water conservation technologies.
  • Energy: The countries will work together to develop renewable energy technologies and to improve energy efficiency.
  • Transportation: The countries will work together to develop new transportation infrastructure and to improve the connectivity between their countries.
  • Health: The countries will work together to develop new medical technologies and to improve public health.
  • Food security: The countries will work together to develop new agricultural technologies and to improve food security.
  • Space: The countries will work together to develop new space technologies and to improve space exploration.

The I2U2 framework is seen as a way to promote economic growth and development in the four countries, as well as to strengthen their strategic cooperation.

The framework is also seen as a way to counter the influence of China in the region.

The I2U2 framework is still in its early stages, but it has the potential to be a major force for good in the world.

The four countries have a lot to offer each other, and they can work together to address some of the biggest challenges facing the world today.
