‘We are working towards making Odisha global hub for industries in some sectors’

State to focus on food processing, IT/ITES, automobile, auto parts, among others
Claiming to have achieved all-round development over the last 20 years, Odisha has invited global investors to invest in the eastern State and benefit. Inaugurating the five-day second edition of the Make In Odisha Conclave in Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “Come and discover the enormous business and growth opportunities that Odisha offers and the all-round development of the State in the last two decades.
Smart City challenge
“Who thought that Odisha would top in the Smart City challenge, who thought that Odisha will achieve global standards in disaster management, who thought that Odisha will play a major role in India’s food security and who thought that Odisha would be able to lift maximum number of people above poverty,” Mr. Patnaik said adding, “come and invest in new Odisha.” Apart from having participation from leading industrial houses of India, the conclave is being attended by the Ambassador of Japan and diplomats from various foreign countries. Earlier, addressing businessmen. Mr. Patnaik said, “Odisha is emerging as a manufacturing hub of the East and we are incessantly working towards developing it as a global hub for industries in certain focused sectors.” He said the State had set Vision 2025 where in industrial development would take place keeping six sectors in focus. These include agro and food processing; chemicals and petrochemicals; textiles; downstream and ancillary; IT/ITES and auto and auto components. He said now the State was industry-ready and one can plan long-term investment in Odisha.
