Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC)

Context (PIB): India has assumed the Chair of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) from China for the year 2024-25 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Overview of ADPC:

• Purpose: ADPC is an autonomous international organization focused on cooperation and implementation of disaster risk reduction and building climate resilience.
• Geographical Scope: Operates in Asia and the Pacific region.
• Founding Members: India, along with eight neighboring countries – Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
