Context (PIB): The Pradhan Mantri Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana (PMVKY) marks its 10-year milestone.

• Type: Centrally sponsored scheme aimed at the integrated, comprehensive, and inclusive development of tribal communities.
• Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Tribal Affairs
• Objective: To improve the socio-economic conditions of tribal populations while preserving their cultural heritage and identity.

Components under PMVKY:

• Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojna (PMAAGY): Aims to transform tribal villages into model villages with enhanced infrastructure and access to essential services.
• Development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs): Focused on the upliftment and welfare of PVTGs through targeted programs.
• Support to Tribal Research Institutes: Encourages research initiatives on tribal issues and supports knowledge-building on tribal cultures and challenges.
• Pre-Matric Scholarship: Provides financial assistance to tribal students at the pre-matric level to improve school attendance and prevent dropouts.
• Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme: Offers scholarships for tribal students pursuing higher education.
• Administrative Assistance for Project Management Units: Ensures efficient implementation and management of PMVKY projects through dedicated project management units.
