CHARAK Initiative

Launched by: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), under the Ministry of Coal.

What is CHARAK?

  • Community Health: A Responsive Action for Koylanchal (CHARAK) is a health-focused Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project.
  • It offers free treatment for serious illnesses to economically weaker people in the Singrauli region.
  • Treatment is provided at NCL’s hospital or specialized hospitals across India.

Who is Eligible?

  • Residents of Singrauli (Madhya Pradesh) or Sonbhadra (Uttar Pradesh).
  • Families with an annual income of ₹8 lakhs or less.

Diseases Covered:

  • Cancer, TB, HIV, heart diseases, organ transplants, severe burns, liver disorders, hearing or vision loss, neurological issues, trauma, and other critical conditions.
