About TDSAT

  • Establishment: A statutory body set up by an amendment to the TRAI Act, 1997, in 2000.
  • Function: Adjudicates disputes, disposes of appeals, and protects the interests of service providers and consumers.
  • Composition: Chairperson and two members appointed by the Central Government.
  • Powers and Jurisdiction: Original and appellate jurisdiction in telecom, broadcasting, and airport tariff matters; only appellate jurisdiction in cyber (IT) matters.
