Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC)

  • Overview: NavIC is India’s regional satellite navigation system, providing accurate Position, Velocity, and Timing services over India and up to 1500 km beyond its borders.
  • Development: It was developed by ISRO, with the first satellite launched in 2013. It currently consists of eight satellites, with plans for expansion to 12.
  • Services: NavIC provides two services: Standard Position Service (SPS) for civilians and Restricted Service (RS) for strategic users. It offers positioning accuracy of better than 10 meters in India.
