What is CEREBO?
- CEREBO: A hand-held, portable, non-invasive diagnostic tool for brain injuries.
 - Developed by: ICMR, Medical Device & Diagnostics Mission Secretariat (MDMS), AIIMS Bhopal, NIMHANS Bengaluru, and Bioscan Research.
 - Technology: Near-infrared spectroscopy powered by machine learning.
 - Function: Detects intracranial bleeding and edema (swelling) within one minute.
 - Safety: Radiation-free, suitable for infants, pregnant women, and usable by paramedics or even unskilled personnel.

Why is CEREBO Important?
- Addresses diagnostic gaps in areas lacking CT/MRI facilities.
 - Outputs: Colour-coded, cost-effective results → quick triage for further neurological assessments.
 - Deployment: Designed for ambulances, trauma centres, rural clinics, disaster response units, and military healthcare.
 - Validation:
- Clinical trials & regulatory approvals completed.
 - Multi-centre studies confirmed diagnostic accuracy, faster decision-making, and triage benefits.
 - Health technology assessments recommend adoption to reduce imaging costs and optimise patient care pathways.
