Today, November 26 is Constitution Day, which is being celebrated across the country. - Every year 26 November is celebrated as Constitution Day in the country to commemorate the adoption of our Indian Constitution.
- In the year 1949, the Indian Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November itself. However, it was implemented throughout the country from 26 January 1950.
- At the same time, on November 19, 2015, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Central Government had announced that November 26 would be celebrated as Constitution Day every year. Since then, Constitution Day is celebrated every year on this day.
Constitution Day 2022: 395 articles to 470 articles - The Constituent Assembly took 167 days to frame the Indian Constitution, for which 11 sessions were held.
- The Indian Constitution in its original form has 395 Articles, 22 Sections and 8 Schedules. Our constitution has a total of 1,45,000 words, which is the longest adopted constitution in the whole world.
- However, at present our constitution has 470 articles, 25 sections and 12 schedules as well as 5 appendices.
- Constitution Day 2022: No holiday
However, Constitution Day is not a holiday, but various programs are organized in various government departments, organizations and educational institutions on this occasion. - Talking about schools and colleges, various speeches, dialogues, debate competitions, quizzes, etc. are organized on the occasion of Constitution Day, so that the awareness and understanding of our constitution is promoted among the students.
Constitution Day 2022: Preamble of the Indian Constitution - “Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26 November in our country to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.
- The Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India on 26 November 1949, which came into force from 26 January 1950.
- The decision of the Government of India to celebrate 26 November every year as ‘Constitution Day’ to promote the values of the Constitution among the citizens was notified by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 19 November 2015.
