The Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), is hosting the First Asian Buddhist Summit (ABS) on 5th–6th November 2024 in New Delhi.

Objectives and Highlights
- Platform for Dialogue: The summit gathers prominent Buddhist ‘Sangha’ leaders, scholars, experts, and practitioners from various Asian traditions. It aims to foster dialogue and understanding on the significance of Buddha Dhamma in addressing modern challenges and fostering peace.
- Focus on Regional Unity and Development: The ABS emphasizes Buddhism’s role in promoting unity, compassion, and collective development across Asia. Participants will discuss how Buddhist principles can guide societal and economic progress in the region.
- Supporting India’s Act East Policy: The summit aligns with India’s Act East Policy, which emphasizes collaboration and spiritual development in Asia, with Dhamma as a foundation for inclusive growth and mutual understanding.
- Cultural Exchange and Knowledge Sharing: By encouraging cultural exchange among diverse Buddhist traditions, the summit serves as a space for sharing insights on Buddhist teachings, values, and practices, promoting harmony across Asian societies.
