IIDT to set up Vizag campus

To cater to demand for trained manpower in disruptive tech
The International Institute of Digital Technologies (IIDT), started by the AP Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA) in Tirupati in February, 2017 to cater to the increasing demand for trained manpower in disruptive technologies, has decided to set up a campus soon in Visakhapatnam.
The APEITA, an autonomous society formed by the State government to attract investments in electronics and information technology, is offering post-graduate diploma programmes in cyber security and business analytics at the IIDT-Tirupati.
“We are looking for a building to start PG diploma programme in artificial intelligence and machine learning immediately,” J.A. Chowdary, Special Chief Secretary and IT Advisor to Chief Minister, told The Hindu on Saturday. The IIDT is now functioning at the IT Incubation Centre at Renigunta on the outskirts of Tirupati after it moved out of the temporary campus at the Sri Venkateswara University. The institute, which provided 100% placement to its first batch in early 2018, has commenced classes for the second batch. Admission for another batch is completed. The government has allotted seven acres near the IT Incubation Centre for construction of hostels and other infrastructure.
Mr. Chowdary said the Visakhapatnam campus would focus on financial technology subjects like blockchain and data sciences. The first is likely to start at the L.B. Bullayya College. The intake for artificial intelligence and machine learning will be 50. He said as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh were committed to transform Visakhapatnam into Fintech Valley with a sustainable ecosystem, they would focus on introducing fintech courses at the IIDT-Vizag campus. He said their plan was to develop the IIDT centres on the lines of the ISB-Hyderabad. Efforts would be made to acquire land for constructing permanent campus for the IIDT in the city at the earliest.
