Context
The Government of India and the World Food Programme (WFP) signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) on 25 August 2025, marking a major step in collaboration to address the global hunger crisis.
Highlights
- India will supply fortified rice to WFP for distribution among vulnerable populations in crisis zones worldwide.
 - Showcases India’s role as an agricultural surplus nation contributing to humanitarian aid.
 - Reflects India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – “the world is one family.”
 - Builds upon discussions at the WFP Executive Board side event in Rome (Feb 2025).
 - Complementary initiatives under India–WFP partnership include:
