More projects planned under CPEC, says China

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said on Tuesday that more projects will be planned under the $60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, amid concerns over piling up of debt. Cash-strapped Pakistan has formally approached the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout package as it reels under a serious economic crisis. Reports said that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to visit Beijing on November 3 for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other top leaders. After the new government took over, Beijing agreed to extend the CPEC projects to Balochistan to address the criticism that Punjab grabbed most of the investments.
