Naidu seeks Rs. 1,200 crore relief from Centre

In yet another letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the devastation caused by cyclone Titli, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that there was heavy damage to public and private properties in over 1,800 villages in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts and that 16 persons died. He pegged the tentative loss incurred by 14 departments at approximately Rs. 3,436 crore. The Chief Minister sought an immediate sanction of Rs. 1,200 crore to implement the relief package for 2.25 lakh cyclone-affected families and restoring the damaged infrastructure. A report on the damages was submitted to Union Minister of Home Rajnath Singh during his recent visit to the city,Mr. Naidu pointed out. In a teleconference with officials, Mr. Naidu said there were no complaints about the enumeration of the damages caused by cyclone Titli in Srikakulam, and ordered that the electricity restoration works should be completed in a couple of days.
