Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar-2024

Context:
The President of India recently conferred the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar-2024, an esteemed national award, to outstanding scientists across four categories: Vigyan Ratna, Vigyan Shri, Vigyan Yuva, and Vigyan Team.

Award Categories and Recipients:

• Vigyan Ratna Award:
  This award is given to scientists who have made significant, lifelong contributions to any field of science and technology. In 2024, it was presented to Prof. Govindarajan Padmanabhan for his pioneering work in molecular biology and biotechnology.
• Vigyan Shri Awards:
  These awards recognize scientists who have made distinguished contributions to science and technology.
• Vigyan Yuva-SSB Awards:
  Aimed at acknowledging young scientists who have shown exceptional promise and contribution in science and technology.
• Vigyan Team Awards:
  This award is given to a group of scientists who have collectively made groundbreaking contributions in any field of science and technology. In 2024, the award was presented to the team behind the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
