Standard Veterinary Treatment Guidelines (SVTGs)

Context (TH | DTE): The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has introduced the “Standard Veterinary Treatment Guidelines (SVTGs)” for livestock and poultry.

• Development Partners: Created in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
• Objective: To reduce antimicrobial resistance and enhance disease control in livestock and poultry.

Key Features:

• Dynamic Updates: The guidelines are a “live” document, updated regularly based on field experiences and global advancements in veterinary medicine.
• Comprehensive Treatment Details: Includes detailed information on medication types, dosages, expected medicine requirements, treatment duration, withdrawal periods, and potential adverse reactions.
• Inclusion of Ethnoveterinary Practices: Offers validated traditional medicine practices for disease treatment and health management, promoting integrated approaches to veterinary care.
