UPPER AIR CIRCULATION OVER TAMIL NADU

  • Low-pressure area likely to form in Bay of Bengal around November 9The system is likely to move towards Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts on November 10 and 11, says the Met Department
  • The Regional Meteorological Centre on Friday announced that a low-pressure area is likely to form over southwest Bay of Bengal off the coast of Sri Lanka around November 9.
  • Additional Director-General of Meteorology S.Balachandran told presspersons here that the system was likely to move northwestward towards the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts on November 10 and 11.
  • Fishermen have been advised not to venture to the south and central Bay from November 9.
  • The upper air circulation that was over Tamil Nadu, at present lies over the Kerala coast and neighbourhood and the east-west sheer zone, and running from this system to the South Andaman Sea.
  • Isolated thunderstorms with lightning is also very likely to continue till November 6. In the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Friday, Tondiarpet recorded 14 cm of rain, followed by 12 cm at DGP’s Office on Kamaraj Salai, and 9 cm at Perambur.
  • The rain gauge at the Chennai district collectorate recorded 8 cm of rain. The stations at Ayanavaram, Anna University, the Chennai meteorological office at Nungambakkam, Ambattur and Red Hills recorded 7 cm each.
