Week begins on a rainy note

City receives 122mm rainfall on Monday; 12 hurt in two incidents of wall collapse
Mumbai received 122mm rainfall on Monday, inconveniencing officer-goers and commuters on the first day of the week. Heavy waterlogging was reported at Andheri subway, Sion areas. The weatherman has forecast a similar weather on Tuesday and Wednesday with extremely heavy rainfall in some areas. Twelve people were injured in two separate incidents of walls collapse reported in the city.

The city saw heavy rains from early morning.
At 10.57 a.m., BMC’s twitter handle tweeted: “Dear Mumbaikars, the city has experience heavy rainfall in the last couple of hours, especially in the eastern suburb. We regret all the inconvenience that has showered along. But the intensity is on decline now & our teams will try to pump out logged water as soon as possible.”
According to private forecaster Skymet, “The reason for ongoing rains can be attributed to the active off shore trough along Konkan and Goa. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation is marked over Gujarat.”
