Context
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has released details of the 2025 awards scheme.
Background:
- Introduced in 2006, with restructuring in 2014 and 2020.
- The scheme was further revamped in 2021 to promote innovation, best practice replication, and institutionalization.
Aim & Objective:
- To honor District Collectors for impactful delivery of public services through saturation-based implementation of government schemes.
- Encourages data-driven governance, evidence collation, and quality-focused implementation across 11 priority schemes.
Key Schemes Assessed:
Includes Har Ghar Jal, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Mission Indradhanush, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, among others.
Award Categories (Total 16 Awards):
- Category I (5 Awards): Holistic District Development via 11 flagship schemes.
- Category II (5 Awards): Performance in Aspirational Blocks Programme.
- Category III (6 Awards): Innovations at Ministry, State, and District levels.
Award Components: Trophy, scroll, and ₹20 lakh for awarded district.
