GS2 POLITY
The PM-JANMAN Package was launched in November 2023 to improve living conditions for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) across India. It aims for 100% coverage of essential services such as housing, water, healthcare, education, and roads in PVTG habitations, benefiting 75 PVTG communities across 18 states and one Union Territory.
Background
- Announced on 15th November 2023, coinciding with Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.
 - Part of the Pradhan Mantri-PVTG Development Mission from the 2022-23 Union Budget.
 - Budget allocation: ₹24,104 crore (Central share ₹15,336 crore).
 
Objectives
- Improve socio-economic conditions of PVTGs.
 - Ensure access to basic services: housing, healthcare, education, livelihood, and clean water.
 
Key Components
- Housing via Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.
 - Water supply through Jal Jeevan Mission.
 - Mobile medical units under the National Health Mission.
 - Construction of hostels and Anganwadi Centres.
 - Household electrification using solar energy.
 
Implementation
- Led by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in partnership with nine ministries and state governments.
 - Delays due to PM-GatiShakti portal requirements were resolved, leading to the sanctioning of over 4 lakh homes by November 2024.
 
Future Plans
- Duration: 2023-24 to 2025-26.
