Objective

PM-AJAY aims to uplift Scheduled Caste (SC) communities by combating poverty, enhancing education, and promoting employment opportunities.

Core Components

1. Adarsh Gram Development: Transforms SC-majority villages into model villages with improved infrastructure, health, education, and financial inclusion.
2. Grants-in-Aid: Funds district and state-level livelihood projects for socio-economic development.
3. Hostel Construction: Establishes hostels to support SC students, reducing dropout rates and improving higher education access.

Achievements (FY 2023-24)

• 1,834 villages designated as Adarsh Gram.
• Grants-in-aid approved for 17 states to boost livelihood initiatives.
• 15 new hostels sanctioned for SC students.

Implementation and Monitoring

The scheme involves collaboration with state and district authorities, emphasizing community participation and regular socio-economic assessments.
