Event Summary: On January 18, 2025, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi led the e-Distribution of SVAMITVA Property Cards, marking a significant milestone in rural governance and empowerment. Around 65 lakh property cards were distributed to over 50,000 villages across 10 states and 2 Union Territories, aiming to enhance property rights and improve land governance in rural areas.
SVAMITVA Scheme Overview:
- Launched on April 24, 2020.
- Provides rural property owners with a “Record of Rights” using drone and GIS technology for accurate land surveying.
Geographical Coverage:
- Covers 10 states: Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh.
- Includes Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Key Achievements:
- Nearly 2.25 crore property cards generated as of January 2025.
- Drone surveys completed in 3.17 lakh villages, with states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh achieving 100% survey completion.
Economic Impact:
- Surveyed land spans 67,000 sq.km, valued at Rs 132 lakh crore, highlighting the economic significance of the scheme in enhancing land governance and financial stability.
Global Recognition:
- In March and May 2025, the Ministry plans to showcase the SVAMITVA Scheme internationally through workshops to share best practices in land governance.
Rural Development Impact:
- Strengthened land governance, promoted financial inclusion, empowered women through property rights, improved access to bank loans, and helped resolve land disputes, fostering rural community development.
