PM MODI PRESIDES OVER 45TH PRAGATI MEETING

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently led the 45th meeting of PRAGATI, a platform designed to leverage technology for improved governance and efficient project implementation. The discussion centered around eight significant projects, including six related to metro systems, and one each focusing on road connectivity and thermal power. Together, these projects represent an investment exceeding ₹1 lakh crore and span several states and union territories.

 

About PRAGATI

PRAGATI, short for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, is a digital platform that integrates information and communication technology (ICT) to streamline project management. It fosters collaboration between central and state governments, promoting accountability and ensuring timely delivery of initiatives.

 

Projects Reviewed

  • Metro Systems: Six metro projects aimed at enhancing urban transportation and connectivity were reviewed.
  • Road and Power Projects: Two additional projects focused on improving road infrastructure and expanding thermal power capacity.
    These initiatives are pivotal for bolstering infrastructure and fostering regional development.

The Prime Minister suggested organizing workshops for cities implementing metro projects. These workshops would facilitate the exchange of best practices and lessons learned, aiming to optimize execution and improve urban transport systems nationwide.

 

Rehabilitation and Resettlement

PM Modi emphasized the importance of prompt rehabilitation and resettlement of families displaced by these projects. He underlined the necessity of providing adequate facilities at relocation sites, ensuring the well-being of affected communities as an integral part of project planning.

 

Tackling Project Delays

Highlighting the adverse impacts of project delays, the Prime Minister urged officials to ensure timely completion.

Delays not only increase costs but also postpone public benefits. Adherence to deadlines is critical for maximizing the effectiveness of infrastructure initiatives.

 

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

During the meeting, the Prime Minister also reviewed the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, an initiative aimed at providing free electricity to households in villages, towns, and cities. He recommended a phased approach to achieve comprehensive coverage and encouraged states to adopt the program effectively.

 

Addressing Public Grievances

PM Modi also addressed public complaints related to banking and insurance sectors. He emphasized the importance of reducing resolution times for grievances, underscoring that prompt action is essential for strengthening public trust in these industries.
