The PM-YASASVI Scheme is an integrated initiative aimed at promoting quality education for students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Denotified Tribes (DNT), particularly in their formative educational years.
This scheme consolidates and enhances several previous programs, including the Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for EBCs and the Dr. Ambedkar Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for DNTs, effective from the 2021-22 academic year.

Objective:
The primary goal of the scheme is to empower students from economically disadvantaged sections by providing financial support, enabling them to overcome financial barriers and continue their education.

Under the scheme, students can avail of:

  • Pre-Matric Scholarship for classes 9 to 10.
  • Post-Matric Scholarship for higher studies at the post-secondary stage.

Eligibility:

  • For the Pre-Matric Scholarship, students must be enrolled in classes IX and X in government schools.
  • The family income should be less than ₹2.5 lakh per annum.

Implementing Agency:
The scheme is implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
