Context:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) in September 2025 to expedite immigration clearance for pre-verified Indian nationals and OCI cardholders at select airports. The initiative aligns with PM Modi’s vision of speed, scale, and scope in public service delivery.
Expansion and Implementation:
- Initial Launch: July 2024 at Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi).
- Current Coverage: Extended to 12 airports, including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Cochin, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Kozhikode, and Amritsar.
- Future Plans: Aim to cover 21 major airports, including new hubs like Navi Mumbai and Jewar.
Features and Benefits:
- Immigration Clearance: Within 30 seconds via biometric e-Gates.
- Process: Travellers scan boarding pass and passport; biometrics verified instantly.

Registration Process:
- Register on the official portal with personal details and documents.
- Biometrics captured at Foreigners Regional Registration Office or airport.

- From 2014–2024:
- Outbound Indian travellers: +73% → 6.12 crore.
- Inbound foreign visitors: +31% → 2 crore.
- Total international passengers: +60% → 8.12 crore.
- FTI-TTP Contribution: Reduces waiting time, improves traveller experience, and supports growing passenger mobility.
Significance:
- Uses advanced biometric verification and automated e-Gates for expedited immigration.
- Modeled on US Global Entry Programme but customized for Indian citizens and OCI holders.
- Supports national goals of modernising airport infrastructure and promoting India as a global travel hub.
