ILO World Employment and Social Outlook
A report titled “World Employment and Social Outlook – Trends (W International Labour Organisation)” was recently released by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
About:
- It was designed to represent the idea that social justice must be the foundation of any long-lasting, global peace when it was created in 1919 as a part of the Treaty of Versailles, which put an end to World War I.
- In 1946, it was designated as a specialised agency of the UN.
- It is a tripartite organisation, the only one of its kind that unites executive bodies representing employers, workers, and governments.
Members:
- India is a founding member of the ILO with a total 187 member States.
- In 2020 India assumed the Chairmanship of the Governing Body of ILO.
Headquarter:
- Geneva in Switzerland.
