ILO World Employment and Social Outlook

A report titled “World Employment and Social Outlook – Trends (W International Labour Organisation)” was recently released by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

About:

  • It was designed to represent the idea that social justice must be the foundation of any long-lasting, global peace when it was created in 1919 as a part of the Treaty of Versailles, which put an end to World War I.
    • In 1946, it was designated as a specialised agency of the UN.
  • It is a tripartite organisation, the only one of its kind that unites executive bodies representing employers, workers, and governments.

Members:

  • India is a founding member of the ILO with a total 187 member States.
  • In 2020 India assumed the Chairmanship of the Governing Body of ILO.

Headquarter:

  • Geneva in Switzerland.
