Water Vision @2047

It is an initiative launched by the Government of India with the aim of achieving water security for all by the year 2047. It is a roadmap for sustainable water management in India, focusing on five key areas:

The initiative was launched in 2023 and is being implemented by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The Ministry has prepared a detailed action plan to achieve the goals of Water Vision @2047, which includes:

  • Promoting rainwater harvesting: Rainwater harvesting is a simple and effective way to conserve water. The government is providing incentives to encourage people and institutions to adopt rainwater harvesting practices.
  • Improving irrigation efficiency: Irrigation accounts for a major share of water use in India. The government is investing in improving irrigation infrastructure and promoting micro-irrigation techniques to reduce water waste in agriculture.
  • Treating wastewater: Wastewater treatment is essential for protecting water quality. The government is building new wastewater treatment plants and upgrading existing ones.
  • Reducing water pollution: Water pollution is a major challenge in India. The government is implementing stricter pollution control laws and regulations.
  • Raising awareness: Public awareness is essential for the success of any water management program. The government is running campaigns to educate people about the importance of water conservation and sustainable water use.

Water Vision @2047 is an ambitious initiative, but it is essential for India to achieve its goal of water security for all. The success of the initiative will depend on the commitment of the government, the private sector, and the public.
